No because if the first bakugan thrown get a sphere attack then it doesn't count.

Not if the bakugan's owner posts the stand before their opponent throws a new Bakugan in... VANITAS -.-; That is called "Walking into a Sphere attack" ... and it makes the bakugan you threw become affected by the sphere attack

I've done that in a few brawls when they did it and my opponent always told me it doesn't count.

Whomever told you that must have been talking about how you posted the bakugan's G power right after the sphere attack. If the g powers are posted before you throw, the sphere attack will not count. But if those G-powers are not posted, then the opponent takes damage if they throw their bakugan.. it's a cheap way to win, and Shadow uses it a lot.
